Waldstein Quintet

Those of us who braved  bad weather and road works to attend the concert last Friday in the Music in the Castle series were richly rewarded by a magnificent evening of music making by the very talented Waldstein Quartet.  The foursome became a Quintet for the last work on the programme, the thrilling Shostakovich Piano Quintet in G Minor with the pianist Christos Fountos.

The 5 young musicians hail from Greece/Albania, Israel/USA, Cyprus and Mexico and met as students at Trinity Laban in London.  How fortunate we were to listen to them in the wonderful setting of the James Wyatt Music Room at Powderham Castle.  I am delighted to have discovered “Music in the Castle” and look forward very much to future concerts.
